There are some excellent skills which are taught throughout the IOSH Managing Safely course. You will begin by learning exactly what your duties are concerning the law and how the legal system works regarding health and safety. This is a great place to build on, and you will be made aware of the consequences if you don’t put your skills into practice.
Through the rest of the course you will look into creating and monitoring risk assessments and safe methods of work. Risk assessments are required as they help to identify the risks in all types of work, and shows who is in danger. You can use risk assessments to work out how to reduce the hazards for each job and to identify what equipment is needed. You then go through the assessment and working methods with your staff and make sure they are aware of how to carry out the job correctly.
The IOSH Managing Safely course also goes through how accidents are investigated and why this is necessary.
